The Foundation was established in 1999 and was chartered as a Nonprofit Corporation. The Foundation holds Federal Tax Exempt Status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. The Foundation is further classified as a nonprofit organization which primarily supports a government agency’s operations and is thus not classified as a “Private Foundation,” therefore exempt under 509(a)(3) and eligible to receive grants from other Foundations.
